To continue reorganization and strengthening of its corporate governance model, CleanR Grupa has formed two new subsidiary companies, which until now had been part of the CleanR structure, the Group’s largest subsidiary, informs Juris Gulbis, the CleanR Grupa Chairman of the Board.
One of the new companies—CleanR Industry—will include the group’s plastic recycling plant, opened in the spring of 2023, and its industrial waste treatment facility, which produces refuse-derived fuel (RDF ) from unrecyclable waste. The other—CleanR NĪ—will manage the Group’s real estate. It is expected to conclude the reorganization in October 2024.
“The reuse of resources is an important precondition in the pursuit of the aims of the circular economy, therefore CleanR Grupa seeks to particularly strengthen waste recycling as part of the country’s overall policy towards a circular economy. The group’s plastic recycling plant, which until now was part of CleanR’s operations, specializes in the recycling of polymeric packaging waste. The plant produces high-quality polyethylene or polypropylene recycled pellets used as a raw material to produce various new products. The company’s products are mainly exported to the EU, while the quality of the products is acknowledged by the RecyClass certificate obtained this year,” tells Juris Gulbis. “At the same time, our waste treatment facility produces RDF from unrecyclable industrial waste and unrecyclable waste derived from waste sorting. The RDF is used in the cement industry as an alternative fuel to produce cement, as well as at regeneration plants to produce heat and electricity. Both facilities embody and promote the principles of the circular economy, helping Latvia as a whole get closer to the landfilled waste reduction targets,” adds Gulbis.
In 2021, CleanR Grupa initiated group-wide reorganization, some of the business lines of its subsidiary companies separating off and setting up as full-fledged group companies. This was done to set clear aims and provide management focus for each of the newly established subsidiaries, facilitating more dynamic business growth and strengthening the group’s leadership role in the pursuit of circular solutions.
CleanR Grupa comprises Latvia’s leading environmental services companies. The group companies operate in the waste management, commercial, road and urban maintenance industries, taking care of more than 50 thousand clients all over Latvia and servicing over half a million people daily.
